An Ode to my summer

Hello everyone! I hope all of you are having fun being back in classes. My summer was filled with busy activities. After being home for my first academic year, I even enjoyed taking a one-hour bus route to work. My sister and I tried baking many different types of cookies, but more than the delicious cookies; I will devour the memories I have created with her. Our mom was not too happy though as we often left the kitchen messy. Between work, summer classes, and family, my summer was filled with joy, sorrow, and hope. My brother and dad were in a car accident in June. Without getting too emotional, they are both okay, but my brother will need a lot of rehabilitation.

What this summer has taught me is to be resilient and be hopeful. We stuck together as a family, cried, and slept beside my brother. I have learned so much bravery from him. I have learned to be grateful, and never take anything for granted.

I have started noticing so many things to be grateful for. I hope that by reading this, we realize that even in our daily struggles and frustrations, there is always something to be thankful for whether that is clean water to drink or being able to walk. So, count your blessings and work hard towards your goal. Oh, what a summer it has been!
