Healthy U

Peer support education

Hello!

We are Healthy U, your peer support volunteers!

Healthy U volunteers provide one-on-one office hours* during the fall / winter school year in the RBC Mood Room. Come talk to us about mental, sexual, physical or substance-use health!

We do health promotion via outreach events.* You might have seen us around campus with beer goggles, giving out snacks for a study break or at Sex Pub Trivia! Check out our events section to see our previous events.

*Although we are not on campus or providing office hours, Healthy U volunteers will continue to provide Health and Wellness promotion via online outreach. Follow our social media accounts for updates.

Your Peers, Our Volunteers

Sydney (She/Her)

Hi everyone! Currently, I am completing an honours of psychology degree through the Faculty of Arts. I am very excited to be a part of the Healthy U team because I am passionate about health and increasing accessibility to care, building resources in the community, and diminishing stigma. I love psychology, so when I am not studying, I enjoy exercising, travelling, and spending time with loved ones.

Hello everyone! I am a fourth-year student in the Faculty of Science majoring in Genetics. This is my third year as a Healthy U volunteer, and I have learnt so much during my time volunteering. I am extremely passionate about Healthy U and cannot wait to contribute another year helping to support and educate students at our university. In my spare time, I enjoy jogging, playing the piano and baking.

Trevena (She/Her)

Hello! This is my first year as a Healthy U volunteer and the last year of my BSc Microbiology major with a minor in Biology. I’m very excited to build more connections in the university community, as well as expanding my knowledge on various health topics. If I’m not studying, you can usually find me watching a new TV series, painting, or hanging out with friends!

Carly (She/Her)

Hi everyone! I am a returning volunteer to HU as it has been such an engaging and gratifying experience. I am in the Faculty of Science, taking the Honours psychology program with a minor in biology. I’m passionate about helping others, especially with understanding mental health, sexual health, and gender related issues. I love spending time with friends and family, exploring new places in the city, reading thriller novels, and listening to new music.

Daksh

Hi there! My name is Daksh and I’m currently enrolled in my second year in the Faculty of Science. This is my second year with Healthy U and it’s been an absolute blast learning about health and wellness and being able to give back to the university community. Outside of school, I really enjoy motocross, volunteering, sports, and cars. I look forward to this coming year and hopefully sharing more health related knowledge on campus!

Jasmin

What’s up! This is my first year joining as a Healthy U Volunteer because of my interest in connecting the community through art and public health. I believe that oral, written and visual forms of art are tools where the community can use to tell their stories, to bond and heal. My hobbies include going out for walks, listening to spoken word poetry and digital art! Looking forward to work with you all!

Hey everyone! I'm going into my fourth year of psychology with the Faculty of Science. I joined hu because I want to make a positive impact on the university community by talking about mental health-- a topic I truly love. I'm a people-loving introvert that spends her free time immersed in stories, whether it be video games, books, TV, or music. I also love to swim!
