Healthy U
Peer support education
Hello!
We are Healthy U, your peer support volunteers!
Healthy U volunteers provide one-on-one office hours* during the fall / winter school year in the RBC Mood Room. Come talk to us about mental, sexual, physical or substance-use health!
We do health promotion via outreach events.* You might have seen us around campus with beer goggles, giving out snacks for a study break or at Sex Pub Trivia! Check out our events section to see our previous events.
*Although we are not on campus or providing office hours, Healthy U volunteers will continue to provide Health and Wellness promotion via online outreach. Follow our social media accounts for updates.

Your Peers, Our Volunteers

Sydney (She/Her)
Hi everyone! Currently, I am completing an honours of psychology degree through the Faculty of Arts. I am very excited to be a part of the Healthy U team because I am passionate about health and increasing accessibility to care, building resources in the community, and diminishing stigma. I love psychology, so when I am not studying, I enjoy exercising, travelling, and spending time with loved ones.

Trevena (She/Her)
Hello! This is my first year as a Healthy U volunteer and the last year of my BSc Microbiology major with a minor in Biology. I’m very excited to build more connections in the university community, as well as expanding my knowledge on various health topics. If I’m not studying, you can usually find me watching a new TV series, painting, or hanging out with friends!

Jayden (She/Her)
Hello! This is my second year with the Healthy U team and I have loved gaining knowledge about a variety of health topics and working alongside the many talented members. I am currently in the Faculty of Science and working towards majoring in Biology. I enjoy getting to know new people and spending time with my family. My hobbies include running, camping and skiing.

Megan
Hey everyone! I'm going into my fourth year of psychology with the Faculty of Science. I joined hu because I want to make a positive impact on the university community by talking about mental health-- a topic I truly love. I'm a people-loving introvert that spends her free time immersed in stories, whether it be video games, books, TV, or music. I also love to swim!

Naila (She/Her)
Hello everyone! My name is Naila Tariq (she/her). I am in my second year, majoring in Psychology. I look forward to having an amazing time with HU this year to create meaningful content that will help my peers in coping with unique challenges of these times. In my free time, you can find me baking cookies with my sister, and getting cozy with Hot C in my hand (Weather does not matter!). Excited to see y’all!

Hi! I’m a Registered Social Worker and a Counsellor at the Student Counselling Centre at the University of Manitoba. I collaborate with the Health and Wellness Office in my role as Co-Coordinator of the Healthy U Program. I’ve previously worked in mental health and residential care settings and enjoy bearing witness to periods of transition and growth in people’s lives. Outside of work, I enjoy creative expression through visual arts and music. Any time outdoors camping, skiing, hiking, etc. is also a plus!

Bryanna
Hello! I am a Psychiatric Nurse and the Health and Wellness Educator for the University of Manitoba! I provide health and wellness information and guidance to students individually or interested groups on campus. I am also the co-coordinator of the Healthy U program. Previously, I’ve worked within clinical and community mental health and have a passion for increasing mental health awareness and practice in thought work. Outside of my role, I enjoy going to the dog park and travelling – anytime near the ocean is a plus!
